Big Bad Wolf Warehouse

Went to the Big Bad Wolf books warehouse. Thought it would be just normal, unpopular books which they were just trying to get rid of. So I didn't think I would be buying much books from there. Boy, was I wrong!

I thought I was in heaven for just a few minutes. Incredible! They have titles of my favourite author, Nora Roberts! And it's only RM8 per book! Imagine that, and it's in good condition! Pfft, bookstores were selling the same book at RM34! Went there the 1st time and I got 12 books! Man!

Went back the next day with May and bought more books, hehe

Came back with a box full of books this time. Don't worry mummy, this books is gonna last me a whole 6 months to read!

Happy Mother's Day!

Mummy, thank you for going so far to work to support us. Me, Kit and May really appreciate all the things you have done for us. We miss you every single day and we can't wait for the day you will come back home to spend your 1 month holiday with us. Don't worry about us! We're all doing fine here. We're working and studying hard so we can take care of you the next time you come back to Malaysia for good.
Remember to eat well, and stop going on the 'only eat once a day' diet. No use one la, if your dinner is nasi lemak and curry..

Mum's trip down memory lane

Mum's originally from Kuala Kangsar and ever since she's moved to KL, she has not been back ever since. So, when we heard that our grandpa just came out from surgery in Taiping, we decided to drive down to Taiping to see him.

Taiping is beautiful. It's serene, it's peaceful and if you're searching for some peace and quiet, Taiping is the place to be.

The trees here are incredibly old, and I think it is the oldest trees you can find in Malaysia; besides the hutans la. We took a drive around the Taiping Lake, and Mum just had to stop and take pictures of the trees. Damn, it's been so long since we came back here. More than 14 years I think..

Sit and relax..

After visiting our grandfather, we came to this particular restaurant. Wah, how I remember always coming here for lunch with the whole family and eat wan tan mee.

The wan tan mee, we always ate for lunch last time. True, it's not the best in the world, but it brings back nice memories. Before we left for Kuala Kangsar, mum suddenly shouted, "Oh oh, we MUST eat the Fried Kuew Teow at this stall! It's very very famous and delicious!". So we stop to satisfy her cravings.

We didn't know our way around KK, so we were counting on mum to guide us. She was saying, "Noooo problem! I know my way around!", says the person who has not been back for over 20 years.

1st, we took her to her secondary school. At first I was really doubtful on whether the school will still be there.. It has been soooo long.. Indeed it was still there. "It's here, It's here!," she shouted, and tried to squeese her head through the gate bars, trying to peek inside.

Walau, even got their own website leh!


Mum said she rode her bicycle up this hill to get to her school. Then she went on and on about how lucky we are, we have cars taking us to school....

My mum's dad used to work as a jewelery seller, and my mum wanted to see if the shop was still here and it is! After all this years...



The famous KK river which floods everytime it rains.. It even floods all the way to mum's school and its on top of the hill!!!

Next, we went to her house she used to stay. We didn't try to take many pictures, because neighbors were staring at us..

Next, she wanted to show us her original house, before she move to the one above.

We drove up a hill and the roads becomes very small. Where is mum taking us??


"It's there," she exclaims "and it looks exactly the same! It has not change at all". One word. Wow.

This er.. used to be a house, When my mum was staying here, she and her sister used to run to this house, and peep through the window because this house was the only one who had a tv.

This was where my grandma used to climb down to go to the market and climb back up to go home.

Saw this as we were coming home, pretty. If you look closely, there's actually 2 rainbows.

Beijing, China Day 4

My final post on my trip to Beijing :(

Okay, on our last day, we visited the WangFuJing Street, because it's shopping day. I'm not really interested in buying things, so we left the shopping to mum.

We especially went to the Donghuamen Night Snack Street! Yum yum!

Wow, they're so trained here. They're only suppose to start their business at 5.30pm, so you can see them at the beginning of the line, all ready on their bicycles to get the food to their stalls. This is something you definitely won't see in KL!

As we were walking around WangFuJing street, we bump into the Cathedral. Apparently, one of the oldest church in China. We came here to sit, cause our feet was killing us

So after the shopping, we went to try the Beijing Duck, which is a must have.

This is pretty cool. It has noodles wrapped in a sort of popia and deep fry it.

Okay, back to the history of China. We took a trishaw ride around the "Hutong". So what is Hutong? Basically it has existed even during the reign of the 1st Emperor. That is how old this place was.


Our driver. Thank god he's strong enough to drive me and May around! *I think he gulped a little bit when he found out that both May and I are his passengers*

Duncan said that during those days, only the high ranking officers are able to paint their doors red. If not, they will be executed.. Gulp!

Inside a Hutong house. We visited a house where the family was still staying in here. I think his house has been preserved as one of the cultural relices, where their house cannot be demolish. I can't imagine staying in a place like this.. No tv, rooms are so very small, and 1 toilet!!

Now according to the owner, his great grandfather was a high ranking officer. The steps are made differently here. If you'r a low ranking officer, 1 step to the room. medium, probably get like 3 to 4. And his grandfather got the 5 steps. If another house tried to copies this, again they will be executed. The owner also goes on to say that last time, his grandfather would entertain those aristocrats in that very same house.


The alley of Hutongs. It's very small, so cars can't be driven in here. Main reason why we were driven around in those trishaws.

After that, we went to the Beihai Park, thinking it's just some normal pond and park again.

Oh man, was I wrong! It's so pretty here! Damn crowded though..

After that, we went to Jingchan Park or Coal Hill. This is the spot, where you climb to the peak, and you can see the whole Forbidden City or the Imperial College.

So after taking our snapshots up the hill, it's time to come back down to see the spot where the last emperor of the Ming Dynasty, Chongzhen, committed suicide by hanging himself here in 1644.

It's been 365 years and the tree is still here for everyone to see.

After that, we went to..

The temple of heaven. This is the place where the emperors performs ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for good harvest. Another UNESCO World Heritage.

After that, we walk around the park which led out of the Temple, couldn't resist taking a couple of funny shots.


Last on our agenda, a Kungfu Shaolin show. But since we have time to spare, Duncan took us to this new shopping street which is so new..

The shops are not even built finish yet!

After that, we went to a Kung Fu Show. I have to admit, it's really good. I thought it's going to be a snooze where you see a bunch of botak people fighting around. But this show actually has a story line, so it makes it more interesting to watch.

We were not allowed to take pictures during the show, so we only had the stage shot view before it starts.

Beijing is an incredily city. So many historical things to see here. It's a MUST go. Go book your tickets now!!

Oh, and during the WangFuJing street, we saw a couple of toys they were selling.
